Welcome to the Jefferson County ARES/RACES Group

Jefferson County ARES or Amateur Radio Emergency Service is a volunteer group of ham radio operators who provide emergency and public service communications to our community. We are part of the American Radio Relay League's South Texas ARES Section District 9. South Texas ARES District 9 is made up of 7 counties in Southeast Texas.

We hold a weekly training net on Wednesday night following the Jefferson County Amateur Radio Club net at 8:00PM. The repeater frequency is 145.470 with a PL Tone of 103.5. In the event the repeater is not available the ARES net is held on one of our simplex frequencies of 146.580 (no PL) or 145.560 (no PL). Once a month we try to hold a simplex test following one of the regular ARES net's to test our simplex communication capabilities.

Jefferson County ARES also supports digital communications used in emergencies & disasters via the Winlink Express simple client message program. Winlink Express training is held throughout the year. A list of frequencies used for digital communication are listed in the ARES Emergency Plan.
